Hi Dirk,

At this step you will still receive an error message, but a file has been created. It is after the next reboot the fix will start to happen.

Hope you get there.

Hi,

and thanks already for the helpful thread. It is just that after the first change in terminal and the first restart, I try to connect via afp to my buffalo, I'll get 'There was a problem connecting t the server .... Check the server name or ip address... and try again'. So I guess that pref file won't be fully restored, will it?
Running Lion 10.7.3 on a MacBook. Anyone any further ideas?

Aaron, I too have an old Linkstation and I've followed these instructions slavishly and it doesn't work so far. Couple of questions:

1. When you say connect to "AFP Server" or do a "Connect to ..", the only thing I have to connect to is my smb server running on 10.10.0.2 and so I try smb://10.10.0.2 for the connection and it fails. Is this enough to create the file you talk about?

2. How exactly do I check whether the file was created? What is the exact location of the plist file?

I am running MacOS 10.7.2 upgraded from snowleopard.

Hi Aaron, big thanks, worked perfectly here (even LS-QL model) just missing TimeMachine support but I assume this isn't supposed to work over AFP anyway.
You should ask Buffalo/Apple to pay you a decent party as I would be even more "po" by their missing support.
Living in Japan I have to say that this is rather unusual for a Japanese company who normally don't let down their clients.

Cheers, Karl

The code after the Note, should only be used to restore the settings.
For example your NAS device has had a firmware update that addresses the problem.

Can you confirm if you have eneted the last piece of code each time?

This isn't working for me. Am I missing something? I'm following it to the T although do I put in the code after the 'note' as well or is that if I wanted to revert for some reason?

When I restart for the last time I still can't mount without connecting in finder

Hi,

I also have several older Buffalo Linkstations, which aren't getting a firmware upgrade and the changes you've given don't seem to fix the situation for those (though they do work on slightler new Linkstations I have, so I think I've enabled your workaround correctly).

Any ideas if there is anything else that can be done to re-enable the pre-Lion support?

Hi Chris,

Well spotted, it looks like the quotes were altered by a plugin that i was using, which broke in the previous release of Wordpress. I have fixed the code again!

Thanks,
